Reboot/ loss of connection

Hi.

It`s becoming a pain. I`m experincing a lot of loss of connection to my SKY Q boxes, laptop and mobiles and noticed mainly in the evening.

I`ve run all the help checks (Service Checker), and everything is reporting ok.

I have also done many things in this forum, but looks like and old "aluminium" line issue from cabinet to house has re-appeared i.e. disintgrated wires (this issue has been looked at so many times in the past when BT was my ISP). So, being a job for Openreach, so how do I get these booked to check?

Or is there something else I could try?

I`d attached my current router log file but how do I do this.

I can`t copy and paste either because: "Your message contains XXXXXXX , which is not allowed or has been repeated too many times" 🤔

@hotpeppers

Your log doesnt suggest an issue. Any chance you can post your router stats & log again next time you notice the issue happening?

Re: Reboot/ loss of connection

Sure. It usually happens between 8pm and 10pm every evening. But not entirely sure why it is just in this time slot and random times, 3 or 4 disconnects wirelessly during this period

Re: Reboot/ loss of connection

Ok. So I`ve tried all 5Ghz avaialble channels, but I have interference on all three of them (according to WiFi Analyser). Tried 80MHz on Ch36, 40Mhz on Ch36 and 40Mhz on Ch44. So what is going on?

Re: Reboot/ loss of connection

Ok.  I`m lost! I`ve disabled both 2.5Ghz and 5 Ghz wireless on my main SKY Q box and hard wired it in.

Can someone please explain how my SKY minis (wireless)  are still working after a refresh of thier network connections? I though the minis communicated with SKY Q main box on 2.4GHz for simple functions, and 5Ghz for the heaiver video streaming. Can someone please explain. Thank you.

@hotpeppers When you use a Sky hub that will connect to the Q minis wirelessly the main Q box can be just using ethernet. If as looks likely the issue is down to wifi it is worth thinking about what could cause a burst of interference during the evening.

Wifi issues can be caused by a wide range of things but look for an appliance switching on or off that uses a significant amount of power especially if it is older and the switch sparks or is something like an older microwave. Other possible culprits can wireless speakers, DECT phones, baby monitors etc as they all use similar radio frequencies as your wifi simply moving the device a few feet can help. Wifi is great when it works but a pain when it doesn't.

Re: Reboot/ loss of connection

Thanks.  Real pain. Never had issues when I used to have BT as my ISP and using their router. To be honest, I'd have thought having all Sky equipment would have worked together flawlessly. Not so. And just to your question. I don't have any other devices you mention that could be affecting my WiFi....round to the neighbours it is..... 😁
