Port start /finish

Hi there

Seriously need help here as going nuts ,  im seriously not tech minded when it comes to all this so forgive me  if i come across daft here . currently working from home and connect to work via cisco anyconnect secure mobility client .  My Internet on the laptop is seriously  slow and / or erratic , doing speed tests on my mobile with the data off abd on other devices when next to the laptop  and I'm getting the normal speeds while the laptops showing anything from  less than 1 to 17 mbps so isn't a WiFi issue as far as I can tell

( we can only get 23 mbps just now  FTTC  unless openreach get their fingers out since the fibres been laid for 2yrs  lol )

Works IT say I need to port forward  , I've followed guides on here and got to the security / services part where it tells me  to enter  the start and finish ports and dont know what I'm supposed to put in numbers wise.

Can someone help a computer illiterate like me   thanks

What speeds do you get on your laptop before you connect to the VPN?

Re: Port start /finish

Hi there  as I said speeds are seriously erratic on the laptop while seem stable on other devices.

Just done a speedtest there  for you on  the laptop

Disconnected from cisco

14.5mbps

2.6mpbs

Latency 6ms

Connected

13.8

2.68

6ms

Phone connected to WiFi

15 .2

2.9

19ms

Just done one more before posting

11.7

2.84

6ms

it's just  so erratic that one minute I'll get that  , them 30 mins later  I'll be under 3 mbps  While any device I check the WiFi on is up at 19 / 20 etc

@Foretotheleft

Considering other devices are fine it suggests there is an issue with the laptops VPN or WiFi adapter

Re: Port start /finish

Tried telling  IT that ,  brick wall springs to mind , this is their apparent "solution" to try,  so just need to figure out what I'm supposed to enter in the start port / finish port boxes in the router settings to try it and at least say to them I've tried it

The fact that they havent even given you the port numbers to enter tells me everything I need to know about your IT department and the fact that they are fobbing you off 😉

If you need to port foward your VPN would never connect, it wouldnt just be slow.
