Poor internet signal in back rooms and connection issues

Work from home & had Sky Superfast now for well ove4 a year but recently having real issues connecting PC (as work from home) and also poor signal in back rooms. Example; my wife has Sky mobile and when she is in the kitchen (back room) her phone goes to 4G due to losing Wi-Fi signal.

becoming a real problem mainly due to working from home & might need to move to another provider. Just don't understand what has changed in recent weeks.
any help would be appreciated

@Lemans10 2 points you need to consider first use of the domestic service you bought for work is your choice and does not change tge contract. Sky like most isps only guarantee speeds to the hub wifi guarantees if offered are an extra charge and very llimited.

The free routers Sky and other ISPs provide are frequently not up to providing devent whole home wifi. Wifi signals are affected by the lay out and type of construction of your home. Signals are also affected by interference from electrical kit and your neighbour's wifi networks which frequently change. Ideally if working from home use ethernet cabelling to a lap top or PC especially if using video conferencing apps. However that can be impractical so what can you do to improve wifi in your work area?

1) Make sure you hub's signal is not being blocked by furniture or radiarors by moving it as high as possible. Also reboot your hub as that will force it to find the wifi channel least affected by interference.

2) if you buy Sky's. Broadband Boost bundle ask Sky for a free booster which you install halfway between the hub and where you need the signal they are better than nothing.

3) Consider buying a powerline adapter kit which uses the mains wiring to carry the signal to a distant room these can come with built-in wifi access points.

4) Go the whole hog and buy a whole home wifi kit like TP-Links Deco or Netgear's Orbi which you can use in place of the Sky hub's wifi. However before buying post again as not all systems work with Sky's services

Re: Poor internet signal in back rooms and connection issues

Hi,

This sounds like a possible faulty router

Here's a very daft question for you, but what happens when you power off/on your router (power needs to be off for at least 30 seconds before powering back on)? Is the signal OK for a while, or is it bad constantly?

In addition, can you screenshot and send us the information on this page: Sky Hub > Statistics

I'm assuming you're using Sky's hub that they sent you, of course ...
