Poor WiFi
I've had Sky Broadband for a few months now. I have two issues: (1) The wifi covers only about half the house and we continually end up on 4G and (2) The wifi on Iphone continues to show weak security (WEP). I've checked the router and it is set to WPA-PSK. We continually get signal drop-outs. This has only been happening recently. So is my Hub knackered? What can be done to improve coverage and reliability.

Re: Poor WiFi
Sky loans wireless booster hardware 'free' under the terms of the 'WiFi Guarantee' element of the legacy 'Broadband Boost' add-on and the 'Enhanced Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee' part of the 'WiFi Max' subscription supplement: they don't otherwise provide or sell boosters except to resolve issues with Sky Q. Phoning Sky to go through a telephone diagnosis is required to have a booster or pod allocated to the account. Inevitably some Sky booster hardware has leaked onto a certain auction site and elsewhere online but Sky won't offer support with using these, and Max pods acquired that way won't work at all.
Confusingly the default 'Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee' bundled with all new Sky Broadband orders where Boost or Max is not added by the customer doesn't actually provide booster hardware, and is essentially a sales lead generator for the supplements mentioned above plus a one month broadband subscription refund.

Re: Poor WiFi
@WakeringBoy That is not weak security, it is your apple device complaining as it wants to be no doubt on WPA3 mode, so you need to fix the apple device to stop it having a tissy fit!

Re: Poor WiFi
I have exactlly the same issues - engineer installed the hub where he wanted which was into a front bedroom when all my devices are in the back of the house. So everynight I listen to complaoints that the playstation (which is the only device using the wifi) is constatly lagging explain that one because you so called expert could answer any queries around how the wifi and skyQ box work. I have tried all of the troubleshooting online and been told I have an issue and to contact a number which is no longer in service. Sick to death of pay one of the highest prices for Broadband in Ireland and I might as well wipe my **bleep** with the money!. I can't get anyone to speak with me only the incompetent 'NEW HIRES' who dont even understand what I am explaining/saying to them - just reading a script and their mentor whispering in the background!
I've cancelled my direct debit, that should get me some attention and hopefully some assistance from 'Customer no service'. If you are not a broadband expert for sky, dont bother contacting me. I'm paying for a service I am not receiving!!
Before I lose my **bleep** altogether does anyone know how I can get sky to provide actually customer service that new customers get????

Re: Poor WiFi
@Von11 The cancelling your DD will most certainly attract sky's attention but may just not be the way you wish, especially when the cut you off! Looks like you are well aware that the sky Hub is all in the wrong place, that does happen when installers have no care for the issues caused by that, but you can relocate the hub though it may be difficult to do using a longer Ethernet cable to your ideal position!
