Poor WIFI?
I am a returning Bropadband customer, now with a Sky Max Router and I have to say the first few days have been very frustrating.
It seemed easy to set up and my main problem is with WIFI...it does not seem very good.
I lost a connection to an HP Envy printer. At first it must have connected, but then suddenlly it lost the connection. I tried to reconnect but this was not possible as the message from the printer was that ' could not as the hub had an unsuppotted type of authentication or encryption'. I tried using the WPS method but this dis not work.
This morning I tried again and now it has connected.
I lost internet to a Samsung tablet (old but still working well). I was being asked to include information about certificates for the router, which I do not have. I tried continuously but no luck, but again this morning it suddenly found its way to the router, and now seems to be working.
I have a Ring doorbell.
The doorbell works fine and I get messages telling me of movement or Ringing. However I am not getting visual pictures. I am getting messages saying my phone (and a tablet) cannot connect and I should check the WIFI connection. I can get it to work inside the house, but obviously I need the doorbell on the outside by the front door. Directly I put it back outside I lose the connection.
The doorbell is less than 10 feet away from the Router.
I only went live on Wednesday.
Since then I have lost connection to my phone, tablet, TV and a security camera.......all of which had to be connected again with the WIFI password..
It is only Friday.
Sky talk about wifi in all rooms....do they not include areas around the outside of the house?

Re: Poor WIFI?
A poor signal in certain rooms is something that comes up on here on a regular basis so try going through this to see if it helps:
If not and if you have Wi-Fi Max on your account then Sky will loan up to 3 pods as you can read about here:
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-wifi-max
So you can either call them on 150 from a landline phone or a mobile that has a Sky sim in it or Select "No, I still need help" at the bottom on the above link.
If someone has helped you then please click on the LIKES button in their post.
If you need help please provide as much information as you can

Re: Poor WIFI?
Have, and had, tried all the suggestions mentioned, and up to yesterday no improvement.
I have also tried a WIFI extender and this had made no difference.
I have had Broadband for many years and upgraded to 500 when I came back to Sky, although my 150 speed withn EE/BT was working fine with no loss of WIFI and everything that I have now was working OK with BT/EE. ( was already with SKY for my TV)
Yesterday the connection to my TV was lost and I had to reconnect..
All evening I tried to get the Ring doorbell to work so that I could view live...but no luck
Yesterday the wifi signal strength (RSSI) was showing at -39....... the lower the better I understand.
Today I am able to view live on the Ring doorbell but the RSSI is currently showing as -60...................how does that make sense? a worse reading for speed, but at present the Wifi to the doorbell/phone is currently working .
Today the Ring Doorbell seems to be working. Another camera is working, TV is still connected and working. Not yet had chance to test my wireless printer.
It could be that SKY have been fiddling about in the background....I will of course continue to monitor

Open the My Sky app on your smart phone.
Navigate to Product Settings
Tap the Broadband tab at the bottom of the screen.
Select Product settings.
Tap Sky Max Hub.
Adjust the WPA Security Level
Tap WiFi settings, then select Advanced settings.
Look for the WiFi security level option.
Change the option from the default WPA3-T (Transitional mode) to WPA2.
Save Changes
Confirm and save your new configurations

I would leave it on WPA 2 for now. You mentioned a WiFi extender, is that a Sky extender? If so then you must have the Sky WiFi Max paid add-on, in which case you can contact Sky and ask for an engineer visit, he'll do a survey and can install an additional 2 extenders positioned in the best locations.
In answer to an original question of yours, no, outside locations are not included in any 'guarantees and they won't assist in helping with those.

Re: Poor WIFI?
No I did not anticipate a problem with WIFI and I had good WIFI previously. I did not see the point in paying extra to SKY for something they should be providing.
The wifi extender is TP LInk RE200

I wouldn't pay extra for Sky WiFi Max myself as their extenders are no better than that cheap TP-Link one you have. I would always advocate a decent robust 3rd party mesh system myself.
