Packet loss whilst gaming
My wifi speed is good, download is good, my ping averages at 8 m/s, but I can't play a single online game without constant packet loss dropping in and out.
I can't use an ethernet cable, but my router is less than 10 metres from my console. How do I fix this please? Thanks!

@Flemiiing How can you not use an Ethernet cable? Also which sky hub are you using.

Re: Packet loss whilst gaming
The router/hub is in another room as it's connected to the properties broadband point. And I can't have a wire running through my property all the way to my PS5. I have a sky broadband hub

@Flemiiing So is the condition off possible poor wi-fi signal to the PS5 new, just happened, was ok before or has something else been done like you upgraded to fibre and the hub now has moved position!

The router hasn't moved and nothing to my knowledge has changed. The connection was perfect initially and didn't falter once, but 2 months in it just randomly started happening.

Re: Packet loss whilst gaming
@Flemiiing the number one cause of packet loss is wifi interference which is why keen gamers avoid using WiFi where ever possible. As a first step reboot your Sky hub as thatwill cause the hub to find the least congested channel to use assuming the interference is from a neighbour's netwirk. However this wont necessarily help as the longer range 2.4GHz band only has room for 3 or at most 4 networks. The 5GHz band is lessxaffected but has shorter range as it loses more power passing through solid objects. Another sensible thing to do is make sure the hub is above obvious obstructions like radiators and it is out in the open.
However tgere is another technology which can help where running ethernet is impractical that is Powerline networking which uses the homes mains wiring to carry the data. While it is no where near as reliable as ethernet it is normally far better than poor wifi.

Re: Packet loss whilst gaming
If I have all doors open (2) then the router has a clear line of sight to the PS5, and has a ping of 8m/s and downloads games very quickly. I'm rather confused as to why I can't play online games! How would I go about using the second option?
