Openreach registered neighbours fibre to my house address. Now can't get our fibre activated

We just moved house and Sky said fibre already at this house so would activate remotely, no visit required. Odd as there was no sign of fibre here.

On move day sky broadband activated message received.  Having no ONT to connect to I phoned sky and was assured it was there and live. It isn't so they had Openreach turn up.  'There's no fibre here' says he!  He installs fibre and the ONT but then discovers that next door's previous install had been registered to this address (which is why when sky checks the Openreach data it says connected and working).

But.. Openreach engineer isn't prepared to do the final instal stage of scanning in the new ONT 'as it will probably cut off next door'.

Have already spent way over an hour on phone to Sky being passed around but getting nowhere. On the last call it sounded like the support person realised what was going on and it would hopefully switch over in next few hours. It didn't of course.

I'll leave it until tomorrow (48 hrs) and then call back but no doubt go through the same 'I can see its connected and working' loop all over again unless anyone has a better suggestion?  Thanks for any help.

@SkyMoomin It does not sound like that is a sky issue, the OR Infrastructure is there's, and when he looked and saw the oops for the address, quickly realised and he was correct go further correct the address and bang someone is going to lose out! Be prepared for the wait to get this all corrected have the feeling may just drag a little time wise, hopefully not!

Yep, unfortunately I share your fear about resolution timescale. Annoying as due to it being a OpenReach mix up there's no way I can contact them directly and have to go through Sky with the inevitable 'no, it's connected and working' and 'no, the address is correct' telephone support loops. Ho hum.

@SkyMoomin You are going to need to find out if the other address happens to be sky connected as the ISP, so ask the neighbours they are probably as much in the dark also!

Well as of yesterday we might finally be getting somewhere but now have an activation date of September 29th. That'll be 42 days without broadband assuming it does actaully even work on the 29th.

Absolute bloody joke.
