Openreach not working

I had to move openreach cable when I left Virgin. I was told to reconnect orange and blue wires. When I have done this no light on Internet on hub and orange light on voice. Does it matter which slot I put orange and blue? They are labeled 5 3 and 2.  How do I resolve situation quickly contact openreach, Sky or someone else

If you called Sky they would certainly charge you for a call out as you really shouldn't be messing with the OR Master socket/cabling, nor would it be done quickly.

As your not their customer Openreach won't speak to you.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Re: Openreach not working

It sounds like you are trying to connect the telephone extension connector on the telephone socket. If the socket is a 5c (with a clip on front) the wires go into A & B on the back of the socket. The wire does not need stripping back to the copper. If the socket has a faceplate which screws off then this is a 5A and wires would go into 2 & 5 on the back.

Orange and blue is old wiring and normally runs to a junction where the dop wire enters the property.

Newer internal wiring is most commonly blue and white.

The order doesnt really matter. The polarity could bet swapped, but with no detriment to modern day telephone setups.

If its the drop wire being terminated then its likely to be orange and white.

Sky can send somebody to your home to do this for you if neccessary.

Re: Openreach not working

@Anonymous  and i thought the drop wire would be green to (a) and black to (b)

Re: Openreach not working

Green & black are rarely used. Exceptions are if the orange and white are faulty or if the line has been split.
