Openreach installation before we own the property

Hi- I have booked a homemove and given the date from which we will be moved in (and therefore the date we will own the property from). I have just received a text message telling me that openreach will be installing the box and putting the cable under the driveway 'in the next few days' - two weeks before we own the property! Obviously we don't have permission to do this as it's not our house yet.

I have called Sky who have been pretty useless if i'm honest, I just want to know that work won't be done until I actually own the property. The people I spoke to didn't really understand what the problem was, so I'm not convinced that I've managed to stop this work happening before our completion date.

Has anyone has the same issue and did you manage to ensure that nothing was drilled or dug up until you were there? Was there a number you called to actually speak to someone?

Thank you

@CB1982 the current owners will have to give their permission for work on their property so warn them. I suspect the only sure way to stop the work is to cancel the order and reorder when you have possession but note fibre installs do require multiple visits and take a few weeks when it goes well.

@CB1982 @Chrisee

That's interesting: presumably a glitch in the system where Openreach are trying to be proactive and get infrastructure in place well ahead of the activation date (which is sensible) but the crucial detail that this particular order is also a Home Move apparently isn't included in the provisioning information.

@TimmyBGood that is a good point which we should point out to our Sky contacts next week as its likely to recur . @CB1982 this is something that I dont think we have seen before but as the switch from copper to fibre becomes routine it will cause issues elsewhere but you appear to be the first case reported.
