Openreach have changed their visit date

Hi, I had a message from openreach saying they would be visiting on the 9th May which is my activation date with Sky but they have now moved it to the 19th May. Sky account still shows as 9th but I'm concerned I will be without broadband now for 10 days? Is this the case?

txt also said Openreach would be doing the external and internal work rather than a sky engineer for the internal work? Is this correct?

Re: Openreach have changed their visit date

I had Sky FTTP installed yesterday and happy to share my experience.

My cable was pulled from the overhead pole by a "Openreach contractor". He  fittted a external CSP, then made a call to a buddy to fiinish rest of the job. His buddy arrived before he left my property. His buddy fitted internal ONT and also join the fibre from ONT to the external CSP. Couple hours later the guy that fitted the external CSP came back inside to take photo of job completed.  So it was his job but split with a mate.

These guys were not Openreach but contractors. I overheard them speaking  about split the next job. So I got the impression 1 guy specialises in heights and another does ONT installation. But either way the job was completed by Openreach...not Sky. It did cause me a bit of confusion will this be 2 seperate day install.

Obviously if your install is alot more complex then your install maybe different. Mine was pretty simple, pull a cable from the overhead pole.

Re: Openreach have changed their visit date

@Neogeo13o So the theory behind it all via sky doing the OTS, is until sky get notification from the OR install team NO matter what the date is, your OLD ISP keeps the lights on and supply's you with the BB until that date. Once you get the confirmed activation text from sky 'YOU ARE GOOD TO GO' that is when it all changes and sky start billing you.

Sometimes oops happen and if that does then all bets are off.

If a sky engineer does it from start to finish, then he is Trained by OR and Licensed to work, competent in the task that has to be carried out, a sky engineer who IS NOT will keep well away, it is all about who is selected available and competent to perform the required work.
