Hence the 1 stage install.  Everything done on the same day . Hopefully a simple rod and rope job .  Attaching the fibre cable to a flexible carbon fibre rod and hopefully find a way through the congestion

They usually call you 1/2 hour before they arrive and decide where best to install it but is negotiable on the day

If you enter your full address in the link below and copy and paste the notes below the table we would better know their standard install

You will be given an installation date/appointment at which an Openreach engineer will attend to bring the fibre into your property. The delivery method will depend on your local infrastructure. If you have poles in your area carrying fibre cabling it will come from that, if not it will be underground. The entry point will be semi decided by Openreach but there is some wiggle room if you want the cable to come in at a specific location, although it would need to be within 10-15m of the fibre entry point from pole/underground

Re: Openreach appointment

Thanks, the fibre is on the front lawn, it's another 10 meters to the house. More lawn and a block paved driveway. As far as I'm aware no underground ductwork.  So when who ever turns up, I'm fairly sure he will go again. I'd like to prepare and get a survey done before and have the agreed works planned. Any ideas ?

The notes in the link above should outline the work required ie overhead, underground, partial inground, blocked duct etc

Probably going to requre digging up of your driveway then. I wouldn't expect a quick install

Re: Openreach appointment

@David500meg Do you wish to manage the installation / position off everything, and all that is to be done etc with a site survey?. Do you have an existing copper phone line receiving Broadband and Landline at present from Openreach? Link may help you with the video.

Re: Openreach appointment

Thanks, yes there is copper but that's terminated in the centre I of the house as I understand, installed when built I assume. Can't see any draw cables anywhere but I did lift the manhole on my front garden nothing looks like it's goina to be easy. I was hoping to minimise the delay between fibre golive and the old copper termination. I've spoken to Sky, they assure me it's all going to be done in a couple of hours - Dughhh

Re: Openreach appointment

@David500meg Mine took 30 mins start to finish, early tea for the OR engineers as i prepped all for them.

Fibre pull NO sharp bends on the cable, Draw wire by pulling out the copper cable but can be no point off return with that one...

Re: Openreach appointment

Thanks for this, it would suggest fibre is not available at my address which contradicts previous info and the ability to order having been informed by Openreach it's now available.

I'll sit back wait and see and then deal with the cockups I guess 🙂

Re: Openreach appointment

@David500meg Openreach are ready to go and they DO not normally jump the gun as don't want to get caught with there pant's down, but ISP's have to get all the ducks in a row to sell and that is where it all get's a little sticky, with OR/BTW/Exchange and equipment....

Exact same. OR said June you can go now, install happened Nov order was accepted Sept as the ISP's where not ready to go...

If you follow the link that @cookiemonsteruk posted earlier and look for the notes under the table it will give a good indication if its going to be a quick 1hr job or drag on over weeks.

Re: Openreach appointment

@David500meg  I had a declaration of interest in with OR for a couple of years.  When they emailed, at the end of October, to say it was now available it was available on BT's website a week later.  Sky's website didn't seem to get the message for a further 6 weeks!

Re: Openreach appointment

Just had a txt from Sky, seams like Openreach arnt sure they can provide me with a fibre connection. So I have to wait two weeks for an update.

just over two weeks again they (Openreach) emailed me to say I could place an order, if I check their provision check website it confirms it's available.
some have to wait 14 days, then hope it's being delivered 1 working day after. In the meantime my disconnect is still in progress.

seams the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing
