Not Getting IPv6 Address
Hello,
I've been trying to get a public IPv6 address set up on my router for over a week now and as far as I can tell, all my settings are correct but the Sky servers are refusing to provide an address.
I'm using a GL-BE9300 Flint3 router connected directly to the ONT. IPv4 is working fine, no issues there at all.
I've set up wan6 using DHCPv6, request IPv6 set to 'try', and prefix length 56. According to multiple searches, forum posts, and reddit threads, that's all I need to do. There's the possibility that the ONT is 'stuck' with the Sky router MAC address, but as that's not been plugged in for over 2 years, I somehow doubt it. I have tried powering off the router and ONT for an hour as was suggested, but that doesn't work either.
Any other suggestions or recommendations? Failing that, how do I actually speak to a tech at Sky?
Thanks

Re: Not Getting IPv6 Address
@Phil_Edwards Sky operate a true dual stack network so itvis far more likely to be a config issue on your router than a server issue you can test thst by using the Sky hub you will have been sent. Normally simple setting a hub to use DHCPv6 PD is all thst is required. However around 20% of Openreach connections require use of DHCPv4 Option 61 with a string in the form anything@skydsl|anything is required.

Re: Not Getting IPv6 Address
Thanks for the response
I know Sky doesn't make IPv6 easy. I've already set up the IPv4 option 61. As far as I can tell from the logs, my router is sending out requests, Sky is just ignoring / not responding to them.
I've just plugged the old Sky Max router back in, and low it;'s not getting an IPv6 address either, so I'm thinking its an issue with the connection itself or at Sky's end.

Re: Not Getting IPv6 Address
@Phil_Edwards never heard of this being an issue before but there have been few odditiies recently in some areas possibly linked to a dodgy server. Try powering down the connection for at least an hour so the IP lease closes then reconnect as that usually sorts odd issues.
Senior Sky network techs would chalkenge you on your statement that they dont make IP6 easy. Sky havexalways been ahead of the curve with IP6 and sre proud of it.

Done that too. Left if off for 20 minutes, 30 minutes, and hour, and most recently, six days.
I'm at the point where the language I want to use to describe my frustration would get me banned from this forum.

Tried spoofing the MAC address too.

Re: Not Getting IPv6 Address
I'll keep this updated with my progress.
When I plugged in the Sky Hub Max, it was showing a red light. Oddly enough the network connection was fine and it was getting IPv4 addresses without issue. If it wasn't for the red light, I would have assumed it was working fine. On closer inspection of the admin panel, all of the IPv6 sections were blank.
I tried restarting the router, I reset to factory defaults, I pressed and held the WPS button for 30 seconds, and I tried leaving the router and fibre connection off all night to see if that would clear it. Nothing worked, I was still getting the red light,
Called Sky and they asked me to reset again (WPS button). No change, still a red light. They confirmed that's definitely an issue, and I should be getting IPv6 addresses. They are sending me a replacement router and I will test that when it arrives in a day or two.

Re: Not Getting IPv6 Address
Update:
Received new router. Plugged it in, and the exact same thing.
Red light
IPv4 works fine and I can connect to the internet
Zero IPv6 connectivity
I'll be reaching out to Sky to ask theme o check the line itself. This is not a router issue.

Re: Not Getting IPv6 Address
Contacted Sky team, and my issue has been escalated to their network team. I should have a response (and hopefully a fix) in 72 hours.

Re: Not Getting IPv6 Address
Update:
still unresolved. 5 calls, two escalations to the Networking team, including providing photos of the setup, and I'm being sent my second replacement router.
Network team have said there is no issue on the line. The fact that I've gone through four routers (2x Sky Max, 2x personal) and had the exact same issue each time leads me to believe it's not a local issue.
If the second replacement router also fails, I will be submitting an official complaint. This is ridiculous. All I want is to get an IPv6 address. That's it.
