I've turned router in and off twice and both time I got connection back for 3 mins and then it went again.
now none of my mini boxes are working. All saying problem finding my sky q o. The network.
I have also restarted my maid sky q box and the mini boxes
sky q box says it looks like you do not have an internet connection

Hi @Nathan598
Try completing all of the following.
First try rebooting the main Q box and then when this is completely back up and running reboot the minis.
To reboot press Standby on your Sky Q remote (if the box responds to the remote), and then switch off and unplug at the mains.
Wait at least 30 secs and then Plug back in and switch your Sky Q box back on at the mains.
Wait for the on screen instructions to disappear and the front led to turn Amber. Then wait for 30 secs before you press Home on your Sky Q remote or if this is not working press the standby button on the front of the Q box (Amber led)
note: some features may take up to 5 minutes to return.
Reboot the minis as above.
If the mini still does not connect try a Network Reset on the minis. Start with the one nearest to the main Q box
Network Reset found in mini Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Follow instructions to WPS with main Q box.
You will be asked to press the WPS button on the main Q box (not the mini as the Network reset will start the mini WPS automatically).
If you are on Sky Broadband and the Router is nearer to the mini than the main box then you can try pressing WPS on the router instead of the main Q box. If you do this make sure you press the Sky router WPS button and not the router reset button. If you get the first mini connected then for other minis use WPS on the nearest Q device (main Q box or Sky Router if on Sky Broadband or previously connected mini).

I've got the same problem Nathan. Just upgraded to the Sky Max Hub and had an engineer fit 3 boosters just before Xmas. Think the Mini box may be buggered as it's quite old now so will order a new one tomorrow. Very frustrating

Note that Max booster pods cannot help with Q Mini box issues.

TimmyBGood - not sure what you mean? Can you expand. Thanks

The 2023 Max Hub and Max pods don't have the proprietary Q mesh technology (dating from 2015) so Q Mini boxes treat Max pods as non-Sky hardware and cannot use WiFi from them.
That's a decision by Sky under Comcast ownership not to hamper Max by including backwards compatibility with what's now a rather antique mesh system when it's expected to outlive Q

Ye she engineer mentioned that they don't work on a mesh system. Do the Mini box simply connects to the Pods to access the WiFi and connect to the Main Box. So is the problem with the Mini Q box WiFi related? I'm wondering if the WiFi connection on the Mini box isn't stable enough which is why it's dropping all the time

No, Q Mini boxes don't connect to Max pods at all. In a household with WiFi Max the Minis only get their signal from the main Q box.
Realistically there's a decade in time and a change of corporate ownership between the two systems.

Well that can't be the case as surely the engineer would have told me that. The mini Q box is miles away from the main box so wouldn't be able to pick up a signal from there. The engineer told me the Mini Q box would connect to the main box via the Pods (but not as a mesh system). It has been working pretty well over Xmas - just had the problem tonight

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreThe minis have to get to the Q direct unless you have an old school sky router/booster.
That can be done over wifi (hard, especially with a potentially competing wifi network from the Max/pods in the same household)
or it can be done over ethernet (logistically challenging for most people)
or you can use powerlines (somewhat dependent on household electrical wiring)
or you can connect each sky box into the back of a wifi mesh node (expensive but also gives you great wifi as a by-product)
@MM1986 you said "no satellite connection" - did you mean "no internet connection"?
01 Jan 2025 10:23 PM
No Internet connection - what's confusing is it has been working pretty well for the last 2 weeks. So I'm asking myself why is the problem occurring now?
