No telephone connection and THUS NO BROADBAND OR TV PROGRAMMES and Open Reach refusing to attend to

Hi Everyone,  My telephone line was cut by the Gas Board when preparing for my house to be knocked down and a new house being built. We have moved into a Static placed to the rear of our home whilst the work progresses. We none the less have been receiving a signal into the Static until about 1 month ago until the line was accidentally cut.

Open Reach are refusing to address the fault because Sky it seems has no influence with them!

Sky have promised us a Dongle (almost three weeks age) whilst they continue to have the fault rectified. We have not received this Dongle. We see no alternative but to cancel our service with Sky and join another provider. Has anyone else experienced this trouble ? If so please do

advise us what we can do ? We can get no sense at all from their Cora type answering system and wish we had never dealt with them.

They probably shouldn't have done that: such provision not part of any current Sky domestic broadband product.

Whether any other ISP/telco would be able to negotiate line provision from Openreach in such circumstances is frankly somewhat questionable.

@Sean+Edward+Campb this sounds a very complex issue. Openreach own and run the network the Sky and other isps use there will be a reason why they  will not re-instate your line which msybe related to the demolition. It is possible that your exchange is one which is refusing new orders for copper connections  and you are waiting for a fibre connection to be installed. Sky should be able to tell you what Openreach have told them  it is worth putting the full postal address into this checker https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL if you post the results forum members can work out whst the issue maybe - obscure any info about your address though.

Joining any other ISP who use Openreach will just mean the issue moves to the new provider. Your options seem to be stick with Sky or look at mobile broadband or the new Starlink satellite service unless Virgin Media or another network have connections in your road. Sky will release you from contract

If that's the case then there's very unlikely to be any chance of a 'temporary' optical installation: this is one area where the national move to FTTP is a real problem.

Your builder/developer/architect/site manager really needs to be in discussion with Openreach over future network provision and any associated ducting requirement.
