Re: No sky hub activation date

@Jane219 If it's not on the box, are you already with sky on a running connection then no need for an activation date as you are already live? If you are new then either look at your account or any e-mails etc to when you go live, normally the hub arrives a few day's before for a NEW connection!

Re: No sky hub activation date

  • Perfect 👌   I'm already with Sky, for quite some time.  So, I can just do the switch asap.  Many thanks.  J

Re: No sky hub activation date

@Jane219 Then go for it, if you are going sky Max the white hub, then keep your sky Broadband Hub looks the same but black in colour and be in NO rush to post it back, until you are sure and happy that the Max does as you require it!

Re: No sky hub activation date

When I do the switch does it take long to be back up and running again?

@Jane219 What are you going from and too, you do not say in your posting, so the answer to that cannot be defined for you, there is easy way's and hard way's to do it all, from 20 mins to hours upon hours and if it all fails day's upon day's! Take a quick look at the link below!

Re: No sky hub activation date

From a Sky Q box.    I was informed that this is now old and needs to be upgraded.

@Jane219 it willmtake roughly 3 minutes for the new hub to connect but then you need to connect your devices tomthe new WiFi. Alternatively you can changethe WiFi SSID and password on the new hub to match the old see https://www.sky.com/help/articles/find-and-change-your-wireless-password

Re: No sky hub activation date

@Jane219 Not sure who told you that but sky Q is Sat dish with on demand streaming if you are doing this with TV, so NOTHING to do with Broadband whatsoever unless you are talking about a sky Q Hub! You have not had sky sales on the phone to you, i hunted them yesterday they were clueless!

As per @Chrisee he has given posted info which can make it all less painless and way quicker, if not just have to reset and reconnect all your devices, i would throw your new hub on the connection and watch to see it all goes green, does any FW updates, re boots etc by just watching the hub lights, then go from there onwards!

@JimM1 the old flat Sky hub was known as the Sky Q hub which is being phased out as it will not meet the new security  regs primarily because of a weak admin password which defaults

Re: No sky hub activation date

@Chrisee Fully aware off all that is going on, get's difficult when the OP say's the sky Q box without defining a sky Q Hub! It's also documented that a Q Hub can have the sky admin password changed away from the admin/sky combo, so may just have to dig out my old Q Hub and test it, but it's not been connected for years so would be a good test as an OOB but may just have to throw it on the wan and NOT even sure if sky would FW update it anyway! May have to do the fight with the good lady but will for sure lose that battle!
