No ONT
Hi
Just moved home and ordered 500m/bit ethernet. Is it requires ONT installed? When I phoned sky they not mentioned anything about ONT they said engineer will come and activate it from outside. Can't see any pigtails or anything, all I have is Master socket 5C.

Re: No ONT
500Mbs from Sky can only be over FTTP, so an optical connection and ONT is required.

Re: No ONT
If there's never been FTTP at the address, the ISP books Openreach to install these as part of the process.
Putting the address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker should indicate which provisioning type is applicable.

It's the table and the two text lines below it which are most useful.
Remove any personal information (such as the address itself) if you post an image.

Re: No ONT
There should be a WBC FTTP row . What does it say ? Can you post the entire row.
What that indicates is that there does not appear to have been an ont so it should be installed on thd day of activation

Re: No ONT
The text under the table shows there's currently no ONT, and that optical cable is going to come in through an underground duct. This means there will have to be at least one installer attendance at the property, and perhaps two or more.

Re: No ONT
Also note that typically means there will need to be drilling through a wall to get the new optical pigtail from outside to inside, plus wall mounting of an external CSP and internal ONT.

Re: No ONT
I just wonder why sky not mentioned all that after I ordered a package... They probably do some checks on property. So I have to phone them back and say I dont have an ONT?

As there hasn't been an FTTP service at your property before. As mentioned earlier, Openreach will run the fibre and install a splice point then either Openreach or Sky will install the ONT. There's no need to call Sky an tell them there isn't an ONT.

As @simon194 indicates, an ISP sales system reads into the same BT Wholesale database and books ONT installation as appropriate.
Where the ISPs aren't very good is telling their customers what's going to happen....

That would be correct for FTTC and existing FTTP, but can't be true where there hasn't been FTTP before.
