New internet installed

I have had new internet installed, however, the connection is poor. It's been installed in my kitchen (middle of house) I'm sat 10 ft away in my lounge and I have 2 bars signal. My bedroom upstairs I have 1 bar, 2 at a push. I'm not happy as I've paid extra to make sure I get better signal. Can anything be done about this? 
I've had to spend £30 on a booster to my annex and still it's poor
