I am due to be upgraded to fibre on Tuesday. I am getting a new hub as my current one is not compatible. Checked my orders and it still says awaiting dispatch. Spoke to someone at sky today and didn't get much help. Am worried that my new hub won't reach me in time for the activation date. Does anyone know if I will be able to use my current Internet connection if the new hub doesn't arrive on time. I work from home so I cannot be without Internet, and I have taken the day off especially.

I've currently got a sr102 model router and I am upgrading to fibre. My sr102 router does not have wan port or a UK phone port on it, so I understand I need a new hub to connect up to fibre. Engineer is due Tuesday. Worried I wont receive new hub in time and could be without an Internet connection if my new hub arrives late. They seem to be cutting it a bit fine with the delivery. I've been told by sky that I should be receiving a 4.2 hub (but the person I spoke to was a bit vague ) . She thought at first that I had a hub like that already and then when I told her I didn't, she said my new hub had been listed against my products even though I hadn't actually received it yet.... I

The saga continues...... My hub still hasnt arrived and my engineer is due tomorrow. I already chased ip up (twice) and both sky representatives seem to have fobbed me off on both occasions. The first one said it would be with me saturday and the next said today. they both said I would get a sms to my phone telling me when it will arrive. I have had neither. I have spoken to someone at sky (again) today, who seemed a little more clued up. This time he said that they dont know when my hub is due to arrive. (at least he's being honest). I asked the question that if my hub hasnt arrived by the time the engineer is here to fit my fttp socket if my old broadband would still work. He said it would be down to the openreach engineer but he couldn't guarantee it. I cannot be without my broadband, I work from home, and the person at sky seemed to think that I could potentially be without a connection for some time, until my hub arrives. Potentially anything from one day to maybe up to a week........
So the upshot of this is that if I haven't received my hub by this afternoon (the engineer is due tomorrow) I will need to reschedule the appointment, or turn away the engineer tomorrow and not let him put the new fttp socket in as it *could* potentially muck up my existing broadband connection without a hub. I am totally fed up with this now, and am thinking of cancelling my sky contract altogether, or switiching to another provider. All they had to do was make sure I had my new hub ahead of the engineers appointment and it seems they can't do that. The package was ordered three weeks ago, so they have had three weeks for them to sort it.
