New digital landline

Does anyone know what happens when the landline is turned off and digital is started, I don't use my landline and would like to get rid of it but not sure if it will effect the sky tv and broadband with the new digital version starting this year.

On a different note, my mum has the old sky plus box not q and wants to only have basic, tv but wants to record still does she need to have a subscription to do that

The national PSTN switch-off has been postponed until January 2027.  Broadband does not require PSTN and will continue to work over either copper or optical data bearers, just as it does now.

Recording on a Sky box is a subscription function.
