Hi
Can I keep my existing BT line for calls and have sky broadband?

It's for my Dad. He's on the BT light user scheme, about £6 a month. He doesn't want to lose this. If he gets sky broadband he would only use the broadband and use the BT for the odd occasional call. I've tried to convince him to get a mobile as an alternative but is insistant on keeping his BT line.

Simply not an option to have split paths on the Openreach network anymore.
The only way to achieve it would be if he has access to an AltNet like Gigaclear, Virgin, etc. Or maybe via a 5G router, which would obviously be dependent on indoor signal strength.
If he happens to be on certain benefits, including Pension Credit, have a look at BT's Home Essentials.

Cheers for all the info. My dad is just stuck in his ways and in all honesty is just looking for a way out of not getting broadband!

Not having broadband won't be an option in a couple of years time when PSTN ceases: all 'landline' voice telephony will be over the internet whether the user knows it or not.
