New Router - nothing but problems

I couple of months ago, I was advised that in preparation for superfast broadband, I would need a new router.

I received the new router and I evenhad a slight boost to my speeds  4.5MB/s went up to about 6MB/s  (MB/s not mbps)   For a while I was quite content.   Then, a few weeks later, I received a 2nd call saying that in preparation for superfast broadband, I needed a new router..!  I advised them that I already had it and it was it was already plugged in and working.  This person told me that there'd be no change to my current set up.  However,  during the call, the internet dropped and when it returned to the previous speed of 4.5MB/s - even though the chap assured me that there'd be no change.

Since then, I have multiple issues where the router decides that the LAN connection is not going to work and so it switches me to WiFi on my main PC in my office.  The reason I use a LAN cable (direct from the router to my PC) is that Wifi between the router and my office is not good and I want to have a solid, consistent, reliable connection.

This was not something that has happened previously but has become an infernal probelm as I work from home and connect to my work PC from home over the internet.  Each time the router decides to drop LAN and switch to wifi, I lose connection - even during calls/meetings.

I have rebooted the router many times, often multiple times a day but it's not really made a difference.    I am at the point where I think I just need to cancel sky and find an alternative ISP as this is simply unacceptbale.

And as for the virtual assistant - that [Removed] has wasted so much of time....!
