Multi-socket extension lead for Sky router + Optical Network Terminal?

Hi all. We're due to have Full Fibre broadband installed soon (by Openreach on behalf of Sky). The information video that Openreach has sent advises that a double wall socket will be needed: one socket for the router, and the other for the wall-mounted Optical Network Terminal that has to be installed near the router.

However, we have only a single wall socket in the location we want our router to be installed.

Can we use some form of multi-socket extension lead? Or is it important that both the router and the ONT are plugged directly into wall sockets (and if so, does anyone know why)?

Thanks!

@LNSE Multi socket or a triple adapter mains socket will be fine what ever works best for you!

Where you want the ONT Modem to be installed, you will have to agree with the installer, the Fibre cable run inside the home, CANNOT have tight sharp bends to it, the installer will treat it as protected as he can, will NOT pin it like a copper cable phone line for sure!

ONT can go anywhere, the sky Hub if you have it working just now and are really happy with it, THEN that is were you need it, a RJ45 Ethernet cable connects the Hub to the ONT, sky gives you a 2M length cable, so if longer etc you need to take care of that if the ONT and the sky Hub have to be apart!

ISP support departments prefer wall sockets because extension leads add another variable into troubleshooting.
