Max hub and IPv4

Following a switch to the new Max hub we're now just able to access an IPv6 adress and not IPv4. Can anyone offer any suggestions around having an IPv4 adress with this hub please? We tried deselecting IPv6 on the router, but even with the IPv4 option selected we simply lose Wi-Fi connection.

@LisaL2 are you reffering to the internal IP addtesses or the public IP address?

By default Sky operate a dual stackso the hub issues both an IP6 and IP4 address. The gateway address is always 192.168.0.1 and the subnet mask must be 255.255.255.0 which means the DHCP server issues devices with addresses in the range 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.254

The white hubs allow Sky to use a method to share a single IP4 public address between up to 8 customers called MAP-T which is invisible to the vast majority if users. However if you type What is my IP into Google it may not resolve the address but you can find it by logging into the hub's web interface at 192.168.0.1 and navigating to Connection/Sky Network.

You can switch the sharing off by enabling UPnP if you want (setting is in the web interface not the app ) but there is no point unless it causes issues. You can request Sky to turn off MAP-T totally by following the instructions in the post pinned at the top of the forum but they will only do that if something like a private VPN causes issues.
