Master Socket replacement to different area

Just called Sky and asked for a Master socket replacement, so everything was o.k., cost 65£ which is acceptable. But now it comes, i was hoping SKY can debit this on my bill, but apparently this is not possible and i had to go through a process to provide my complete card number, security code and expiry day, this seems to be a really old fashion way to pay this fee, has anyone else had the same experience ? Can sky please debit this on the bill ? Dont want to have these details forwarded to a scammer.

@HHM  If you called Sky and they have asked for an up=font payment for a chargeabvle job that is what you'll need to pay, over the phone.

Sky are unlikely to forward your card details to a scammer as they have robust processes in place to prevent credit card details capturing by staff.

Re: Master Socket replacement to different area

Thank you for your response. I’m happy to pay the amount, but I find it unusual to be asked for card details, given that I’ve been a customer for 12 years and Sky has always processed any fees or charges through my monthly bill.

@HHM thst is the way Sky's systems work IIRC the card payment is processed  automatically so the agent never sees the details.

@Chrisee  @HHM  Quite a few companies ask you to input your card number etc using the telephone keypad, the agent sees nothing but  ****** on the screen with a tick or green code colour showing data input by the customer is correct, the most they do is press ok after the details have been populated to confirm payment.
