Map-T update causing vpn issues

Hi,

3 weeks ago, sky made an update to my router which enabled the MAP-T ip address sharing setting. This caused my work vpn to stop working at home. A few other people in my company had this happen but were able to get through to sky and get theirs fixed.

However, I have spent at least 6 hours on the phone to 6+ sky assistants, had a call with tech support, only for them to come to the conclusion that I would have to go out and buy the 4.2 router or switch ISP, because that is the only fix. Buying the router is going to put me out more money, I am already out £100+ between commuting and paying for WiFi.

Has anyone had this issue? Any advice on how to get through to someone who will listen? Should I give up hope of getting this fixed and just leave sky?

Current advice is to use the My Sky app to activate UPnP: that should cause Map-T for the circuit to move from 8:1 to 1:1

Hey @TimmyBGood

I did see that but I tried that and it didn't fix my issue unfortunately.

@Carlbro10

If you have the newer Sky hub, you can try enabling UPnP to get your MAP-T on 1 to 1 mapping. If that doesnt resolve your issue you can get your IT department to change your VPN MTU settings to try and fix it.

You also need to fill out the form on the link that @Chrisee provided.

Re: Map-T update causing vpn issues

The only way I have found to resolve this issue is to purchase a 2nd hand black sky router, it does not support map-t so there's no chance they can ever add it. They've refunded me this month's bill, but after my contract is up I am cancelling and never will use sky again. Such a shame because I was going to buy a mobile plan and some other products before all this, now I will never use them again and I am advising friends who are changing against it.

Re: Map-T update causing vpn issues

This is my plan... thanks for the feedback.  Just out of curiosity I take it this issue is not relevant to Virgin or BT?

Sky appears to be the first UK ISP to deploy Map-T (and only through the Max Hub rather than previous router models)

@Carlbro10 have you submitted the form I posted further up the thread as that feeds your details  to the team managing the issue who can potentially switch off MAP-T. You do not need a black Sky hub Asus routers which work well with Sky lines should also work.

. The use of methods to share IP4 addresses between multiple customers is something every large ISP will have to use as the internet still has not fully switched to IP6. There are several methods to do this  MAP - T is an alternative to CGNAT that mobile networks use and works well for Sky as their network fully supports IP6.
