Low internet after engineer has been out

Internet dropped from 50mbs to around 1mbs. Had an engineer come out and changed the wiring on the telephone pole outside. He did his check on his device and said the house is recievinb 50mbs. However, i am not. Its just as bad as it was before and no improvement. 

do i need to replace my modem?
