Low broadband speeds

I have connected my laptop to the router directly, and confirmed a 1000mbps link speed. Google and Ookla speed tests show~250mbps down and 60mpbs upload. These speeds are significantly lower than the 800mpbs connection we are supposed to be getting. Given that these speeds are calculated outside of the WIFI environment with a direct connection, I'm hoping you can shed some light on this disparity.
