LAN connected device problem after router firmware update

In February 2024 I noticed that LAN connected devices in my house were not sending push notifications to their corresponding apps on my phone (a gate intercom and CCTV system). These apps and the equipment have been working fine for almost four years (installed after a house move), it is nothing to do with phone or notification settings. Furthermore, the apps do still work and receive imagery, they just don't receive notifications. Interestingly, wifi connected devices (e.g. ring doorbell) still send notifications without issue.

 

I have read on other posts that users have had problems after the firmware on their router was updated. I have an SR203 router on firmware 7.03.0704.R.
Other users state that they were issue free on 7.03.0400, then the update happened and problems, then Sky rolled back the firmware to version 0400 and the problem went away.

 

I would like to know if it is a firmware issue or if I have to make some kind of allowance in the router firewall.

Its likely you would need to port forward the systems if they are connected to your LAN.

Thanks for the response.

Two further questions:

1) Any idea why the problem has only recently started? It's been fine for almost four years.

2) I'll be honest and say that I don't know how to successfully carry out port forwarding. Are there useful resources on the forum?

Could be a change in one of Sky's firmware updates or a change in your devices.
