Is the SR203 just underpowered for 920Mbps?

Sadly for reasons I have had to go back to using the SR203 for now ( old man accidentally dropped the phone replacement I bought him in the bath and it died ).  Now I did a speed test before hand and my line was maxing out at 920mbps down constantly on the same server on speedtest.net but when I did it on the SR203 it struggles to make it up to 890mb on the same server with the same settings

I went back and tested my 3rd party router (VR2800) and after 10 tests the performance was consistant with the first test as in it has no problems hitting 920mb but the same 10 tests with the same settings on the SR203 were also consistant in that not one of the tests made it above 900mbps ( average was 880mbps ), it felt like it was struggling in all honesty

The only difference with the setup between the 2 routers is that the landline is connected to the Sky router.  I am going to test without the phone connected but I suspect I'll get the same results.  Does anyone here struggle to get above 900Mbps WITH the SR203

God I hope Sky bring out a more powerful router soon!!!

P.S - All tests were done via ethernet on the same speedtest server at the same times of day

Everyone acknowledges that Sky, like BT, are now badly overdue a router which matches their gigabit FTTP provision: that's largely down to the ongoing global shortage of silicon components, particularly when trying to source very large numbers of relatively cheap devices.

I would however observe that the practical difference between 920 and 890 Mbs is negligible.

Re: Is the SR203 just underpowered for 920Mbps?

Oh I agree on the practical difference but anyway I went ahead and did more extensive testing comparing the VR2800 and SR203 ( had two VR2800's, borrowed one from a friend to best ) and my conclusion came to be that both VR2800's outperformed the SR203 at worst about 60mbps and at best 20-30mbps consistantly

The SR203 can occasionally spike to 910mbps but can't seem to maintain it consistantly over multiple tests while the VR2800's seemed to have a much easier time maintaining their level of performance.  The only thing I can really think of is that my original assumption that the SR203 is slightly underpowered for gigafast connections seems to hold water

I agree with you that both BT and Sky really do need to update their routers for gigafast but I fully understand the silicon shortage
