Re: IPs have wrong geolocation ROI

Main issues I had was local radio channels via Tune In Radio wasn't working and the likes of the RTE player on my tv wasn't either.

These now are working after a brief reboot of my system thankfully.

Speed issue is still there, I'm paying for 1GB fibre and getting maybe 200mb wirelessly in the same room as the router etc.

You're paying for 1Gbs over the fibre, not WiFi.

Sky Glass 55" (on ethernet) & two Stream Pucks (one ethernet / one WiFi)
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2

Oh really?

I've paid for 1gb Virgin and in the same position I've tested the wireless from them and got at least double that.

That ok fanboy?

Re: IPs have wrong geolocation ROI

Wifi works by talking on shared channels. If your neighbours wifi is on the same channel or you have multiple devices connected to wifi on the same channel it will drop your speed a LOT. Thats how wifi works, no matter who you are with Sky, Virgin etc you will get different speeds at different times and if your speed has dropped so much you need to change the channel your wifi is on.

Wifi speed has nothing to do with Sky. Only a wired connectoin can give consistent speeds. I changed my wifi from default channel 1 to 6 for 2.4ghz and 5ghz and now get my full speed over it.

No need to be so aggressive to others and angry when the issue is you do not understand how wifi works.

Also I have the same issue for the 5th day in a row, latency and speed on wired connection is rediculously bad and having called and talked to a Sky rep yesterday they told me there is a issue in the area and they would call me back with an update in a hour, they never called back and my internet is not working again for a 5th night.

Very poor customer service from Sky and has made me decide to switch provider next month when my contract is up.

Re: IPs have wrong geolocation ROI

There seems to be 2 threads ( at least) going from users experiencing the same issues.  IP addresses that geo locate to the UK and unusable internet between the hours of 7.30pm and 10.30pm.

I really hope SKY Ireland sorts this out.  I think I'll be asking for a refund.

Re: IPs have wrong geolocation ROI

Day 6 of Sky Broadband users losing the internet in the evening and no response from Sky when called by me or neighbours.

Skys customer service is beyond terrible.

Hi all,

Great to see some people are fixed but sorry for those who are not! If you are a Sky broadband customer having issues with NOW or Sky Go due to your IP address having the wrong location please private message me your public IP address so I can have our Network teams investigate.

I don't know why this thread has been marked as 'answered'.

Simple fact is, it hasn't.

I'm not sure sky want every person affected by this to PM them their IP address so it can be tweaked individually. I suspect they want to find a permanent fix.

Individual workarounds aren't gonna suffice here.  Sky needs to do better.

Posts marked as answers are not always those that show a fix, instead as is the case here it is so an individual post can be seen.
