Unfortunately all that happens is Sky suspends service entirely, debt continues to accrue and eventually there's a risk of ending up with an impaired credit record.
There's really very little point threatening to withhold a subscription to a multi-billion pound company: it's typically more useful to keep in contact and negotiate a solution.

As @TimmyBGood has stated it isn't a good idea to stop paying for the service but you can report the issue and when it isn't fixed within 28 days then Sky should allow you to exit the contract penalty-free.

phone them and get a sales rep, negotiate a deal, thats what I do , we have discounts on our service due to location and low speeds !!
