I have recently moved from BT to Sky but do not want to use their hub. I need help on how to connect my Draytek Vigor 2860 to my Sky broadband?

Thanks to all who responded to my initial post. I was told that my music system, (Roon nucleus and QNAP storage + Meridian system) wouldn't work with the Sky router, but on the advice of a fritI tried it and everything working fine including room's remote service, ARC, which never worked properly with the Draytek. So problem solved! Thanks again for replies though.

Find out moreIf you have FTTP with an Openreach ONT on the wall then just connect the ethernet cable from that into the WAN port on the Draytek, then follow the guide below from Draytek's website. You can skip the first step where it says 'Obtaining Login details' as that isnt required anymore. The login string abc123@skydsl|abc123

Unfortunately it does not list the Vigor 2800 as being a compatable model but you can ask Draytek support who are helpful.

The dhcp option 61 usually only works when using the drayteks internal modem . As the new modem is the ont :-
You may need to change the operating mode to wireless router to bypass the internal vdsl/g.fast modem
Then set up the draytek to use dhcpv6 prefix delegation which would involve
Select the WAN interface section of router GUI, then select dual-stack option WAN interface for IPv4 & IPv6, for the address select DHCPv6 (dynamic option not static), enable prefix delegation (PD) on WAN and then select SLACC for IPv6 creation method on LAN

At a glance, the guide mentioned appears to be written for FTTC. The 2860 is a bit long in the tooth but if it is anything like the 2762 which I use, then what Draytek refer to as WAN1 is for ADSL/VDSL. You need disable that and enable WAN2 then configure the details above. The WAN port to connect the ONT to is LAN port 4.
In fact, this might help more:

It is one of the draytek models that could be put into modem bridge as a rather expenstive vdsl modem . And as you say is an old model so i am wondering if it even has prefix delegation which would possibly be the only way it would work with sky full fibre

It may well do. Although old, the 2860 is a business model, so I wouldn't be surprised. The 2700 series is the SOHO version but largely the same. It's just capacity differences. For example, the 2800's will handle 16 simultaneous VPNs, the 2700's only 2, if memory serves.
This might be worth a look. Draytek's update site does a number of UI simulations. I can't see one for the 2860 but this is for the 2862:

Thanks to all who have responded to my query. I have printed out the Draytek instructions and it does say my Vigor 2860 is compatible with Sky Fibre. I have been running the router with BT Full Fibre for years so can't really see why it can't work with Sky? I have a music system which uses roon software and roon Nucleus with a Qnap as my music store. The company who installed it back in 2016 said it would be wise not to use either a BT or SKY hub.
