I currently have the ultrafast package @ 159mb. I've had Sky Broadband since forever.
I see the subject message whenever I go to the My Sky app. I would like to upgrade to the 500mb package.
Clicking on the link though, I get the message "Unfortunately Sky Broadband is not standstill at your address". I've called them, but they tell me their system won't allow me to upgrade.
Strange, if I go to their website without signing in, acting as someone moving to my address, I can order either of the full fibre packages.
Short of going to a different provider, any ideas how to upgrade with Sky?

Sounds like you are on g.fast. at the minute there is no path to upgrade from g..fast to ultrafast fttp. People have been advised to cancel g.fast first so fttp order can go thru
Any time left on you existing sub?

I would try another adviser and if its still a no than ask what the problem is.

Find out more@TechmanagerMal & @phillipspd unfortunately @cookiemonsteruk is correct that Sky currently do not have an upgrade path from Ultrafast over .G.Fast to Ultrafast over fibre. I got this confirmed by a Sky specialist adviser during a recent site visit I asked the specific question as it seemed odd.
The option is to order from another ISP but if the customer is still in the 18 month minimum period there will be cancellation charges which are unlikely to be waved..

Will Sky eventually be able to offer me this upgrade? I still don't follow where the issue is, seeing as other ISPs can provide the speeds I'm looking for.

Read my and @Chrisee posts. You may have to call sky and cancel g.fast before you order fttp. Have you tried ringing them?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@phillipspd the issue is simply Sky do not allow thecupgrade you want. Its a policy decision quite why they did not say. It will have to change at some point as Openreach de-commission the copper network but that could be several years away.

Correct me if I'm wrong but we have yet to established that @phillipspd is actually on g.fast.

Ok we've jumped to conclusions but @phillipspd is getting an on screen message that full fibre is now available

It's the My Sky App that is telling me that full fibre broadband is available at my address. I called Sky (again) yesterday, but they simply said that I can't upgrade with them.

Can you confirm that you are on g.fast with what looks like a standard mastersocket .
What length do you have left on your existing contract ?

I had an Openreach Master Socket fitted not too long back. March 2024 is when my contract ends.

It does sound ludicrous but its hard to figure out if its a complete bar on g.fast to fttp transfer, if its to do with remaining time left on your contract, or whether its just the way the system is set up. . Looks like wait until march and take the risk that its to do with the remaining time on your contract or move to another isp and pay the early termination charges

As I've suggested before, one issue may be that Sky will have paid an Openreach fee for the G.fast installation, and would face another for FTTP: payback for these would be factored into a full minimum term.
