Gigafast+ existing customers

With the recent introduction of gigafast+ I was interested at looking to see if this is something I could get.  I'm currently on full fibre gigafast and when I check my upgrade options Sky say I'm on the fastest available package.

However when I look on cityfibre's checker, it says I should be able to get 5gbps through sky.  Is gigafast+ only for new customers or will I be able to upgrade to this at some point?

Are you on full fibre via openreach? If so I believe there is currently no way to switch from one provider to another you would need to already be supplied by city fibre to get access to the new products

Yeah I think I am currently supplied by open reach, would need to check the ONT when I get home.

If I am with open reach, do we know if it will be possible to switch in the future?

Unfortunately operational details are still extremely scarce.

Re: Gigafast+ existing customers

FWIW, I upgraded from Openreach-based Gigafast to Cityfibre-based Gigafast+ and the new line was installed automatically as part of the order.

However, for me the newer Gigafast+ packages showed up when running the postcode checker on the Sky website. I didn't have to do anything special.

Pretty sure you have to be in a Cityfibre area that is XGS-PON enabled for the faster packages - not all Cityfibre areas were on this, including my area, but Cityfibre have been upgrading their hardware for existing deployments like mine. If the Cityfibre checker says you can get it, I would have thought you are in an XGS-PON enabled area though.

@KillerCars that is exactly correct City Fibre are still upgrading their network from G-PON to XGS-PON which is required for the two Gigafast+ tiers. In June they reported 85% of the network had been upgraded at that date with the balance due to be completed "this summer" see https://cityfibre.com/news/cityfibre-unveils-new-5-5gb-wholesale-product-its-fastest-ever
