Gigafast 900 s
Just had Sky Gigafast 900 installed today. Sky site says we're getting 911Mbps but all other speed checkers show around 300 Mbps. When the technician was installing it showed speeds of 710Mbps but (typically) as soon as he left the speeds dropped. We even upgraded to get pods installed to help boost the signal but still a lot slower than we believe we should be getting. Wife is currently tearing her hair out trying to get Alexa and Ring devices re-connected. We never had these issues with Starlink which we replaced with fibre (it's just beeen installed in our village).
Does the fibre take time to reach it's max speeds after installation or have we been sold a pig in a poke?
Thanks

Re: Gigafast 900 s
@jdee2712 It's called walking before you run, and NOT throwing the kitchen sink at it straight away. Speed is device dependant so if the mobile device cannot do it you will not get there similar if you have multiple devices competing for the same wireless wi-fi something has to give.
Just now you have thrown the POD at the hub and they will be trying hard to work out who and what is best way forward for the operation, in the mix you also selected sky Max as your hub and it is trying hard to workout what it needs to do.
Fibre should work straight out as long as sky have got it all online and working, the max is SO tightly tied to account and control, app has to be used and adjusted, and you are just better to leave the hub alone 24hrs and see what it settles down to!
I have had FF500 on an EE service and now on the Sky service and it just has not missed a beat for the whole year come next month. Sure speed's rise and fall with the network as busy times come and go, but it is a shared service, and i have seen the lowest at 200Mb/s sustained speed when the network was just so busy and people were complaining so did a quick speed test to confirm YES the network was speed low as everyone and there granny was streaming one of the football finals....

@jdee2712 Links for both the sky about speed and some light reading when you get time!.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/broadband-speeds-explained
And for speed related issues good read.
Two good speed test's if you wish to test. But you do have to take pinch off salt, at 8pm is now getting into peak time!
