Full Fibre cable install

I'm considering having fibre broadband installed but the Sky ordering page says the first step is that Openreach turn up to attach a box to the outside of your house and you "don't need to be at home".  I assume they must also run the fibre cable to the property at the same time.  My existing copper phone line runs under a concrete driveway and emerges out of a pipe outside my front door next to the driveway.

So if your not at home, what do Openreach do if they deem that channelling into your driveway is necessary in order to route the cable?  Do they just proceed without your consent or discussion?

It would be best if you were at home especially for the external installation and also that you will need an ONT (optical network terminal) installed inside your home if you do not currently have one as this is where the cable from outside connects to and to which your broadband hub connects to.
