Firestick speed impacting when playing Xbox

My husband is trying to watch films on his Amazon firestick in his mancave, while I bust some zombies on minecraft on the xbox in the sitting room.  For some reason we cannot understand, it's only when playing minecraft that the firestick internet speed drops dramatically.   I saw a post where someone had the same issue but other way around (xbox lagged). any ideas as I cant play MC whilst he's watching his TV

@KiwiNatz if you only have a relatively slow connection the two activities could require more bandwidth than is available. Playing online games requires around 10Mb/s while watching a movie in UHD quality requires around 25Mb/s so if your hub connects at below 40Mb/s you are quite likely to hit issues after allowing for network overheads.  Particularly if other devices are using data as well as many do when not in active use the will run updates and hiusekeeping.routines. Watching in HD quality reduces the data required to 10Mb/s
