Fibre Upgrade
Having a problem with Openreach and Sky. Openreach installed my fibre cable on Tuesday 24th February. My Sky router had not arrived at this time, went ahead and left a basic router with single connections : Power, Wifi or Sky Q box ( Not both ) and Fibre cable. Fibre cable socket not compatible with (Sky router which arrived Saturday 28th) connection cable. Its a pretty simple problem which is turning out to be very difficult to solve. Sky proving very difficult to contact, phone numbers not working, sky chat no agent available. In my 7th day of no service Patience being tested to the full. Advice would be very welcome Thankyou .

Re: Fibre Upgrade
@Reebok Are you saying that when your newer sky Hub arrived there was not an Ethernet Cable with the yellow ends on it to connect to your new Fibre modem ONT that was installed?
You can either get one sent from sky, but may be quicker to go pick one up local at one off the other stores available, try B&M, Argos Tesco etc standard Ethernet cable.

Re: Fibre Upgrade
Had a fibre upgrade to 500 gigabit .
3 weeks ago openreach guys come to do externals.
However a week later internals guy from kelly Comms to do internals said that that external guys had not brought the cable to the right place or tested to main connection which he tested and it didn't work (only 1/3 job done). So he feedback for them to do within 48 hours as apparent deadline in these situations. He installed the internal infrastructure but obviously could not test.
Couple of days later we found the externals had been done (not informed and always someone in-courtesy phone call/) and 3 lights on OMT ok. Had to get a new VOIP phone Yealink W73P (ethernet to router port) which shows 3 lights for internet connection. However phone does not work and we are without for over 2 weeks.
Spoke to Sky as only 80 mg/sec and should 10 times that. He said it did not look like sky had upgraded there end and he would persue.
He suggested the phone ethernet cable needed to go into BT UK port. Found today from a telcoms expert engineer in a specialist shop (after running around for converter/coupler options for 2 days) that the sky advice of BT UK port was wrong advice as ethernet to router was correct and as the 3 lights were on, it was obviously a problem Skys end.
Also mentioned the 80mg/sec v fibre gigbit 800 and he said it simply Sky not activating, which is strange given the last 3 weeks. This was also why the VOIP phone was not working. He suggest to give Sky the MAC number to test as well. The Sky guy has been off and back Thursday so have to wait for his call back 10-11 before starting the ball rolling with somebody else and having to relay the story over again. Not great, very annoying, paid a lot of money for something that should be supersonic and work straight away to end up with this nightmare. Suggest Sky send an engineer to test as not been tested as explained above but Sky person l spoke to said can get one once he sent a booster (now arrived) and he sent a new contract which would be subsquently cancelled and original re-instated to beat/workaround the current sky system. Long history before this to get this far, texts sent with links that do not work and i havee spoken to techncial previously over a dozen time either chasing or correcting information to get the upgrade in the first place. Having spent a huge amount of time on this, i am sure you will appreciate that we should not be involved and the paid for upgrade should work.
Are things normally this bad?
Would appreciate the problems being fixed urgently and working as paid for.
Patience is running out and it will not be too long before l cancel and move everything to Virgin, so be warned.

Re: Fibre Upgrade
@colin2711 Hope that you are aware posting on the Forum as you have done is NOT Sky Customer Service at all!
Phone plugs into the back off the sky Hub on the telephone port connection, IT DOES not use any ethernet connection for a sky Talk landline phone, look you will see a BT phone port connection marked UK....
