Ethernet connected but no network connection

I had Sky Broadband installed on the 13/01, replacing virgin media. Since the switch, my PC has not been able to connect to a network.

Ethernet is connected to the computer and is giving an internet connection (I am typing from said PC now) but the PC believes it is not connected to any network. (not connected logo in bottom right of taskbar and in network settings > status)

I am running TL-PA7017 kit to connect ethernet to my PC as it does not have a wifi card in the motherboard.

They are both connected to the mains.

The ethernet cables and powerline adapaters are ruled out as the connection works to my laptop.

I have checked and updated my drivers, conducted a network reset, reset the router itself, swapped ethernet cables, forced ipv4, ran cmd prompts.

I have reinstalled windows.

I cant get the computer to recognise a network.

I called Sky this evening and was told they cannot do anything as it works on another device.

At an impasse right now and would love any advice.

Feel free to request any info.

Many Thanks.

Re: Ethernet connected but no network connection

SOLVED!!!!!!

found out that i had error 1068: the dependency service or group failed to start.

Netlogon was not running in services.msc

to fix:

i used cmd as admin

  • STEP 1. Click on Start, type Run, and Hit Enter
  • STEP 2. Type cmd in the Run box, and Hit Enter
  • STEP 3.  Type net localgroup administrators localservice /add and hit Enter
  • STEP 4. Now type net localgroup administrators networkservice /add & hit Enter

restarted pc after this and everything was working.
