Just moved to Sky broadbanfd from BT. All set up and connected but:
CCTV wont connect to either pc or phone. CCTV is connected to router by ethernet but I cannot logon to cctv software via laptop (tried laptop on wifi and ethernet) triad vis ip address and by the cctv app but no connection. CCTV app ia also on my phone but will not connect (uses noip ddns.) all credentials are connect, ddns has correct ip address for my router.
Hive hub will no longer communicate. it is also connected to sky router via ethernet cable.
Driving me nuts, everything was spot on with the BT Home Hub.
Spoke to Sky but only suggestion is disable Skyshield but makes no difference.
Thanks in anticipation...

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreThis usually happens when the CCTV unit has been configured with a static IP, the BT Router & Sky hub use different IP address spaces so your CCTV unit wont be able to communicate now its connected to the Sky hub.
To fix it you need to access the configuration on the unit and either change it to DHCP or change the static IP to one within the Sky hubs range.

As @jamesn123 identifies, BT Hubs are set to 192.168.1.x by default, while Sky Hubs offer 192.168.0.x
If subnet masks are set to 255.255.255.0, those ranges can't 'see' each other.

Thanks,
My CCTV has always 192.168.1.50, I dont recollect ever setting this as I think it was just allocated by the BT hub? All I ever remember doing was some port forwarding settings and set the DDNS credentials. There seeme to be less options to set up devices on the sky hub.
Dont understand subnet settings, what ought they be?
Thanks

Hi,
It has always been 192.168.1.50
i didnt set it so I assume it was managed by the router?
If i typed that into my browser it took me straight onth the cctv admin page...

I will look at it agein when I get home. I have always accessed it with my laptop but it wont log on...

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreAnd what is your laptop using to attempt to log on to it? If its 192.168.1.50 then that obviously isnt going to work anymore. You'll need to locally access the unit if thats possible or check the Sky Hubs device list for a new IP address it may have got. If all that fails you'll likely need to factory reset the unit.

Thank you, I will try to find out if the sky hub has given it a new ip.
Cheers

Any ideas why the Hive hub wont connect with the sky hub. There is nothing to set or log onto with the hive hub, its just plug n play...

IIRC the standard Hive hub cable is a 4 core one and for some reason they don't play nice with Sky hub. I've always used a fully wired Cat 5 cable with my Hive hub and not had a problem.

My phone app connects to the cctv vie noip ddns and port 18004, not an ip address.
Is it possible to check if port 18004 is open on the sky router?
Sorry for asking but I tried sky support but other than ensuring sky shield is disabled only real advice was to try the forum.
I am struggling with sky to resolve what are hopefully teething troubles. Didn't expect this, support from BT was awesome for me.

Yah anything that comes bundled with a 4 core cable usually has issues with the Sky hub

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out morePort 18004 wont be open on the Sky hub, by default on all ISP routers any inbound ports are closed and you have to open them manually.
