Dropping out and slow speeds

My broadband is slow and sometimes won't even register on a speed test. During this time it also drops out. The best speed I've had is 600 on good days. Please could you advise.

@Nickshaw  Can you tell us the letters after the 600 when you do the speed test please.

Mbps. Sometimes it lower than 100.
