Hi there,
Our Sky Broadband Hub was installed around three weeks a go. I went away for a while so I didn't use it much, but I came back a few days ago and I have noticed a problem. Before I begin I'll just say that the internet package we have is advertised as being 61 Mb/s on the 'Sky Broadband Superfast' subscription.
The problem is that whenever anyone is downloading anything, the download speed will be throttled down to anywhere between 5-9 Mb/s. To add to our woes, the internet becomes extremely laggy during a period of anything downloading (this is including when it's just a single download with the throttled speeds of 5-9 Mb/s mentioned above - if I try to download anything else it'll simply drop to the Kb/s as well).
Running a speed test during one of these extremely throttled downloads (intentionally throttled or not) gives a result of around 5-9 Mb/s as well. Outside of trying to download anything, the speed tests report anywhere between 50-60 Mb/s and nothing is lagging at all.
The solutions I've tried are a factory reset, channel change, router restart (multiple times), and also tried to ring Sky support earlier but ended up on hold for an hour before giving up for the night.
Has anyone had any experiences similar to our own?
Cheers ahead

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreI dont know whether I am misunderstanding your post but from what I can tell you are getting lower speeds when downloading something? This is completely normal, your line gets around 60mbps so if you start downloading something at full speed then there will be little to no bandwidth left for other devices or the device thats downloading to do anything else. This is just the laws & physics of networking
