Dns routing

Subject: Technical Support - Brand New Line DNS Routing Issue (Activation Week 1)Hi Sky Support,My brand-new Sky Broadband service was activated just a few days ago, and I am currently in my 14-day line training window.My raw download and upload speed tests are completely fine, but every single connected device in my house is suffering from severe page-loading lag. When trying to browse the web, pages hang and spin for several seconds before opening.I have already turned off the Sky Broadband Shield, so that is not the issue. I have also verified that the issue is entirely down to Sky's default DNS servers; when I manually change my individual devices to a public DNS (like Google 8.8.8.8), the web pages instantly load fast and snap open perfectly.Because I am in my first week of activation and cannot change the DNS at the router level on the Sky Hub, could an engineer please check my account profile and clear/refresh my network-side routing? It appears my connection is stuck on a sluggish or poorly configured Sky gateway DNS server.Thank you

Hi @Rabovey80

Typically Sky cannot facilitate this type of individual request, however if you switch your hub off for an hour it will typically fetch a new public IP which will likely come with a new gateway and DNS servers.

Re: Dns routing

Hi James,

Thankyou for the reply, I was going to try this, I then realised that from some other page or post, this was not the best idea as I have only been on the service for a week? I think it suggested waiting 14 days to do this? What are your experiences? I just dont want to wait the 14 days and then not be able to cancel if its no better. Thanks for your help in advance.

@Rabovey80

That is outdated advice for ADSL/FTTC lines. There is no 'settling in period' or DLM training, as its known for FTTP lines, FTTP is immediately switched on at full speed and if there is an issue it typically just wont work at all. You wont do any harm by switching your hub off.
