Connection issues

The WiFi is not working on my tv. 
when I click on to the WiFi setting on my phone it shows a message which reads "blocking encrypted dns traffic". It won't allow my tv to connect to the wifi.

Is that an iPhone?

 

A smart television wouldn't be using encrypted DNS, so I suspect those are two different symptoms.
