Connecting to WiFi issue (since August)

I have anxiety issues with calling companies, and currently suffering with mild-medium depression, so haven't had the confidence to say (other via the internet...well, my mobile data) 'I don't have interent connection!' I moved into my new house the last week of August, and because I've been walking on floorboards and trying to decorate the house, it's been a while since my activation date and no internet still. I've tried connecting the router upstairs and down during this time, and changed the microfilters around twice but but still without success. I organised an engineer visit for when I'd be available but this got altered, and when I rang Sky to clarify, they said they'd fixed it...??! They haven't: I'm still with the same issues I had before: pulling out the microfilter etc for 5 seconds; the device restarting; then to say it's not working still....!? 🤯😩
