Changing telephone number to a number already in use at the property

We want to drop our current landline number as we dont use it, and use our second line telephone number for our tv and broadband package.  We are on a rolling broadband package.  Sky has said we need to cancel our current broadband and then wait a further 31 days before taking out a new contract.  We will lose our existing email addresses.  Why would we have to wait 31 days to take out a new contract and how can we keep our current email addresses with the new contract?

Is the email address a Sky one, if so you would not lose it if you are logging in online to it on a regular basis so I'm not sure why that would say this is the case.

All broadband packages come with a Talk package so you can't have one without the other. If you don't lose your current phone line then you could ask Sky to change your package to a pay as you talk one so this should save you some money agaist a calls package that you might have on your account.
