Can't set up sky hub

I've just got my Sky broadband hub and all the videos are saying about grey cable, purple cable. The cable I was sent is black with two yellow ends. I'm so confused! Can anyone explain in simple terms what I have to do to set it up please?

That's an ethernet cable, and only applies to setting up a Hub on an FTTP broadband connection ('full fibre') where it plugs into an Openreach ONT.

Putting the address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker should indicate which provisioning type is applicable.

Note that if today is not yet the activation date it's quite possible that the address doesn't have an ONT, and this is due to be installed.

@Jaydee105 there are two main ways for delivery of broadband the older way using a copper phone line which you describecand a newer way with full fibre. If you are getting thst done an engineer will be comming who will fit a box called an ONT which is where the fibre line finishes thst has a rj45 socket which is where one end of the yellow cable connects the other end plugs into the back of your hub but dont worry the engineer will do thst for you.

It's activating today. No engineers booked.

@Jaydee105 have you just moved in as Sky are expecting you to have an ONT unit - smaill white box on the wall withwith a cable going to it which requires power to work when the LEDs will light?. If you haven't call them so they can get Openreach to replace it as residents sometimes take them when they move which they shouldn't.

OK: no booking would tend to indicate that Sky/Openreach think there's already an ONT in place (or they've just sent an incorrect cable)

I've lived here 25 years so no. Our current hub plugs into the phone line. I'm totally confused

OK, that suggests either you're due to get FTTP installed (which the wholesale checker would confirm) or that Sky have sent an inappropriate cable.
