Can I get Sky without a fibre connection ?

Hi - I live in a rural location. There is no fibre optic connection - nor likely to be for the forseeable future. My broadband is provided via Airband radio link. Is it true that Sky is no longer available via satellite to new customers ? If so, does this mean that I simply can't get Sky at all ?

Thanks for any advice/help

@hedgelayer

Sky Q TV subscriptions are still available but as Skys owners Comcast want customers on Stream or Glass they tend not to promote Sky Q openly. Broadband is not supplied via satellite if that's what you mean.

@hedgelayer Sky will sell broadband packages using your Openreach phone line BUT  the speed you get depends on the length of that line to the street cabinet it is connected to. Entering your address here should explain what you will get https://www.sky.com/broadband

Re: Can I get Sky without a fibre connection ?

Many thanks @Chrisee

I tried that link and Sky broadband is simply not available. I don't have BT Openreach as the connection was soooo sloooow and unreliable. So now I have Airband via a radio link with telephjone delivered via VOIP. Looks like there is no way to get Sky - I'll have to go to the pub to watch the Ashes then !

Cheers

@hedgelayer  you should be able to get Sky Q satellite TV but may have issues with online material as serviices like Airband can cause issues. Alternstively you can buy Now TV which can include Sky Sports if your internet connection allows that.

@hedgelayer

Sky Stream television should work over Airband or any other altnet as long as the speed is sufficient and there aren't routing complications.

Sky Q gets all live content over a dish anyway, and can work on far slower broadband for on-demand content (but not streaming into apps)

Incidentally the next Ashes series is on TNT rather than Sky Sports, so you might want to warn the publican that they'll need yet another subscription...

Oh, and the match hours aren't going to be particularly pub-friendly.
