Broardband swap

Currently with Virgin, looking to change to Sky. Is the changeover just a matter of disconnecting the Virgin Hub and reconnecting the Sky Hub using the same incomming cable.

No, Sky can't use the Virgin Media network, only Virgin Media hubs can be connected to it.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Sky Broadband requires either an Openreach copper circuit over a legacy phone pair, an Openreach optical cable or CityFibre infrastructure.  As @GD1 indicates, the historical Virgin Media coaxial cable network and their more recent small deployment of optical fibre is only for their own use.
