Broadband speed

Hi. In the last couple of weeks we have had issues with broadband speed. We have unplugged everything. We can't have the hub direct into BT box and have replaced the extension cable. Sky hub can't be 30cm away from everything as ethernet cable is too short but I've had Sky for many years and can't understand why it's an issue all of a sudden. Statistics below. Any advice? Re: Broadband speed

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

@Bkcee your hub is connecting at 80Mb/s down and 20Mb/s up which is the maximum for Superfast. The hub restarted some 1.5 hrs before you took the stats but has remained connected sincecthstvtime. On the surface your connection looks fine.

If you run a test on a device connected by ethernet cable you should seecspedds around 73Mb/s assuming nother else is using bandwidth. Wifi speeds sill becaffected bybthe layout and type of cobstruction of your home. Your hub should be out in the open on a surface so its signal are not affected by obstacles like radiators.

If cables are too short you can buy longer cables quite easily. The cable thst connects your hub to the phone socket has rj11 plugs and can be bought online or at most hardware shops look for dsl cables. If you need a. Longer ethernet lead to connect devices tomthe hub you need a cable with rj45 plugs again very easy to find in the same places. You dont need anything special for either.

Re: Broadband speed

@Chrisee thank you. Going to try the longer cable tomorrow and see where that takes us and we've moved the landline too.
